Just a Thought.....Cell Phone Etiquette.

Just a thought....Cell Phone Etiquette. So the other day I was in the store just to buy a few items. I was trying to get in and get out. I just happen to get the line with the person who is the ire of post tonight. That person is the inconsiderate cell phone user who has no regard for those around them and who are oblivious to the fact that the world doesn't always revolve around them. This lady was on her phone having what didn't seem like a life or death conversation while the poor check out girl was just trying to do her job and get people in and out of the store. But this lady was so involved in the gossip that the person on the other end of this conversation was relaying that she had that poor girl and the rest of the line held up for what seemed like an eternity as she had to know what "Keith" had done. The poor check out girl scanned the lady's five items and actually told her the total. The lady had turned her back to the checkout girl as was continuing chatting about what she would have done if someone like 'Keith" had done this to her. The checkout girl who was growing impatient, along with the rest of the people in the line tapped on the register as to catch the ladies attention to inform her that it was her turn to present some form of payment. The lady on the phone continued to chat away completely ignoring the cashier. So I give kudos to the cashier as she saw that this lady could care less about what was going on at the register. She waited until she could wait no more and quickly suspended the transaction and stared checkout out the next customer. This all of a sudden caught the attention of the lady on the phone. She quickly told the person the other end to hold and she suddenly wanted to pay attention to now what was happening to her. She snapped at the cashier for being rude and wanted to speak to a manager. The cashier quickly called her manager to the front and she did what I wished I could have done. She completely ignored the now irate customer and continued to check out the customers that were behind her. (Me being one of those customers). The Manager did what he could to defuse the situation and tried to placate the lady who was now pissed off at this point, so much so she called the cashier a bitch. But each of us who checked out with the cashier afterward would all tell how great she was at handling that situation. I totally understand the frustration of the cashier, she told me that type of behavior happens all the time. She was just sick of how rude some people are when all the lady had to do was put the phone down for probably a minute and a half to pay for her items and she could have gone on her merry way still discussing the merits of someone like "Keith". Instead, she had to make the situation all about her. Just remember folks, be mindful of others around you and we can all make this a better place to live. So until tomorrow, this was ....just a thought.

Just a Thought....Coping.

Just a Thought....Coping. I write this post tonight with a different heart and mindset. One of the hardest things to accept when you go down...
